It has been a while since I last posted -- we all have been working full out to get this xaml/swf tool ready. It is shaping up to be very cool though, imo at least. If you are unfamiliar with Xaml, it is the tag based development environment for the next windows. It is basically SVG + XUL + SMIL, and then the code is based on IL (allowing you to program in any .Net language). So what we are doing is using this markup/code to generate swfs as well as windows programs, which means not only do you get tag based UI development, but you can program in Visual Studio or other 'intellisense aware' types of IDEs (with the stand alone swf compiler). Throw in that you can use the language of you choosing, and run the same work natively on other platforms, and it starts to be a pretty compelling way of developing I think.

Now the pitch : ). We (Xamlon) would really like some feedback on what feature set we are going to support, what other platforms we are going to support, and in what order. So we have a survey, and if you would be so kind to fill it out, we'll send you a $5 Amazon gift certificate. If you aren't interested in using a tag based approach for swf development we are still interested -- just tell us why and we'll still send you the $5 Amazon gift certificate. Simply fill out this 10 question survey and claim your prize!      Geez, I should have hosted a game show. That was in fact my true calling.

In all seriousness, we would really appreciate your thoughts on the subject, I guarantee it will have an impact on the final tool. If that doesn't move you to tears and action, then think of the FREE MONEY!

Thanks : )

Hi Robin, I picked up your posting via FullAsAGoog... would you like me to link to your post & survey too, or are you more seeking people from the .NET world than the SWF world? (I don't want to risk tainting the results by skew.)

We would definitely love to have a link John, that is very generous of you... Mostly we are looking for people in the internet apps space, which I think Flash developers have as strong a handle on as anyone. After all, swf has more or less 'been there' for about 5 years already ; ).

    Thanks as always,
    Robin

Xamlon SWF survey: I picked up the link from Robin Debreuil... the Xamlon group is considering adding SWF output to their XAML-writing efforts, and is seeking some guidance on how potential customers rank various pieces of work. (But aren't they...
